The person praying in the Mihrab, The Prayer Niche pointing towards Makkah, is…

Me !

I had fasted the first of my intended six additional optional fasts after Ramadan, during the month of Shawwal, and this was my Maghrib, my post-sunset prayer.

“PARADISE HAS MANY GATES”

Saudi artist Ajlan Gharem’s installation for the Vancouver Biennale.

When I was there, a man took off his shoes, walked in, and began to quietly pray.

Not Seen: MCW member Mr HiMY SYeD from Vancouver, British Columbia reported:

On Thursday evening June 14 2018, after praying Maghrib in Al-Jamia Masjid Vancouver, I walked halfway along the Cambie Bridge to search for the moon.

It has been partly cloudy all evening.

Tonight, the horizon only had a few areas of open sky in which to search.

I searched the sky for about 10 minutes.

I did not see the moon.”
