MOON SIZE AND APPEARANCE TONIGHT 30TH RAMADAN

Usually on the 30th the crescent should be easily visible and should appear big.

Moonset is mostly more than an hour after sunset if the conjunction occurred before sunset the previous day.

InshaAllah this evening because conjunction occurred 8pm after sunset last night, by sunset tonight the crescent will be about 22hrs plus old and will set about 42 mins after sunset inshaAllah but it will not be easily visible.

This will further confirm that conjunction occurred

This will further confirm that conjunction occurred last night and will also confirm that the sighting claims of last night were errors.

We are in contact with most of the people that claimed sighting it, it’s important to mention that all the sighting claims were received

it’s important to mention that all the sighting claims were received after 8pm last night , after H.E the Sultan has declared today 30th.

As usual we always follow up on the sighting claims and I can authoritatively say out of all the claims received, so far none of the

so far none of the sighting claims has passed the test questions that was agreed upon by the National moonsighting committee to help verify error sighting claims.

The questions are as follows:

1) was sunset visible same evening at the location ( sometimes people claim that sunset wasn’t visible but yet the crescent was sighted)

2) position of the crescent when it was seen ( sometimes the moon appears above sunset, on the right or on the left position of sunset).

3) time the crescent was first seen

4) time the crescent was seen last

5) the crescent’s shape ( orientation 🌙) the shape varies for every month. This is the most important factor, because the crescent will maintain same shape next day. None out of the claims

This is the most important factor because the crescent will maintain the same shape next day.

None out of the claims matched this month’s crescent orientation (with technology it’s possible to know the shape even before conjunction).

As usual we urged all of them to go out and search for the crescent again tonight.

If they sight it tonight ( though inshaallah the crescent will not be easily visible tonight like I mentioned earlier),

it will be obvious to them that their sighting last night was an error.

We will still follow up with them tomorrow evening inshaAllah when the crescent will be clearly easily visible and the shape will be visible to all.

Shawwal – Eid Al-Fitr 1442/ 2021

1st Shawwal / Eid Al-Fitr 1442 is on 13 May 2021.

The Crescent Council of Canada hereby officially declares Eid Al-Fitr (Shawwal 1st) for Thursday the 13th of May, 2021.

Ramadan will conclude with 30 days. 12th May being the last day of fasting.

We wish everyone a blessed Eid Al-Fitr Mubarak.

We pray for accepted fasting, worship and charity.

May the world quickly heal from the current pandemic.

There were no reports of reliable sightings across the international horizons on the eve of 29th Ramadan (11th May).

Astronomical calculations also indicate the impossibility of sighting.

We are aware of reported sightings in Niger, Mali and Cote D’Ivoire however are not accepting the reports due to the sun setting before the birth of the new moon in the region.

We further have verification of no sightings in Mauritania, Algeria, Tunis, Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and Europe. “

Resilient Hour | from the Islamic Institute of Toronto

The hour before the breaking of the fast is perhaps the most difficult;

yet it signifies the strong will of the believer to take the hardship of the day to its conclusion and to take comfort in the knowledge that we will accomplish yet another day of worship.”

Every Ramadan since I began 30 Masjids in 30 Days,

Except when I was out of town doing 30 Masjids Canada and 30 Masjids Vancouver,

And again Last Year because of the Pandemic,

I made an effort to visit and pray inside the Bosnian Islamic Centre in Etobicoke.

This year, the masjid has been closed during Ramadan.

I still wanted to at least visit it in person,

Even if only standing in front of it.

So I did today, Day 29 of Ramadan 2021.

Eid Mubarak Everybody !

” 25,598 “

That’s the number of Iftar Meals that will have been picked up by day’s end

during all of Ramadan 2021 at Islamic Centre of Canada in Mississauga.

Our household can account for 12 of those 25,598 picked up during one Drive-Thru Iftar and two Drive-In Iftars !

This Final Iftar Pickup Day was expanded from Four to Five scheduled Iftar Pickup timings.

We booked the first one at 5 p.m. and arrived just as the low frequency FM radio program began,

The “Iftar Radio Show” on 90.5 FM.

Shaikh Alaa Elsayed was the radio show’s Master of Ceremonies.

Because of being in the first Drive-In Iftar cohort,

A small stage was still being set up in front.

Area Politicians would be arriving & I imagine they’d stand on it to be visible to people inside their vehicles.

What is encouraging to witness,

Is how younger people have been entrusted with logistics decision making & process re-invention.

This Ramadan 2021 began with 15% Indoor Capacity allowed for Houses of Worship,

But was reduced to only 10 people allowed indoors during Week 2 of Ramadan 2021.

ISNA Canada worked with the rules as they were and transformed the Drive-Thru Iftar

Into a “Drive-In” outdoors stay-in-car Iftar Pickup that met Provincial Rules for Drive-By services for Houses of Worship.

Some Masjids and Organizations experience stasis due to “Founders Syndrome”,

When well meaning “Uncles” do not retire to make space for following generations of stewardship.

Once up a time that might have been ISNA Canada.

Today,

During a Pandemic,

Drive-Thru, and then Drive-In Iftars,

Confirm Islamic Centre of Canada is in good hands.

Young Hands.

Eid Mubarak Everybody !
