On Friday Evening, May 26 2017, I joined with Ajyal Islamic Centre‘s Moonsighting Group, Brothers Zachariah, Ali, Omar, to search for the new Ramadan Moon.
The four of us travelled to Burnaby Mountain Park, highest unobstructed point in Metro Vancouver.
Local Sunset Time was 9:03 p.m.
There was haze on the horizon, with horizontal threads of clouds.
We paired off and searched for the new moon from two different points on Burnaby Mountain.
After 20 minutes of searching to no avail we regrouped. Just as we were about to give up, Brother Ali spotted the extremely thin new crescent. It took time for the rest of us to easily see it.
An airplane flew past where the new crescent was visible.
The plane helped us all to then easily keep the new moon in view.
Alhumdulillah, we were all able to eventually see this extremely thin new crescent moon.
We spent about 20 minutes taking photographs, trying to capture something clear.
Therefore this is a Positive Moonsighting Report from Burnaby Mountain Park, Burnaby (Metro Vancouver), British Columbia, Canada for Friday May 26 2017.
Ramadan Mubarak!
