Day 13 – First Qur’an Festival — FREE this weekend — Ontario Science Centre

30 Masjids has taken an afternoon detour inbetween blogging Iftars, Masjids, and Tarawih. We’re still behind in posting, InshAllah, we’ll be back to posting on time by Monday. Because this is happening THIS WEEKEND, it was important to blog this NOW! Please try to pop by and see and experience The Qur’an Festival in person.

The First Qur’an Festival is happening this weekend at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Canada.

A number of Muslim artists are showing Qur’an related art works. There is the expected Calligraphy, but there are also abstract pieces, as well mixed media.

What you’ll experience:

  • Exhibition of exquisite copies of the Qur’an
  • Exhibition of Paintings
  • Exhibition of calligraphy
  • Qur’anic exhibition
  • Qur’anic Movies
  • Qur’anic multimedia
  • Recitation of Qur’an
  • Qur’an in Virtual space
  • Qur’an competition and award of prizes for children

They’ve also thought of a special Qur’an and Kids room so bring the kids. The little ones right up to early teens seem to be constantly engaged with activities at various tables.

The festival starts at 11.00 a.m. and ends at 8.00 p.m. today and Sunday, August 14 2011.

Best of all, It’s FREE and open to the public.
