30 MORE | Sitting here in Vancouver… Somehow missed learning about Quebec City Muslims being murdered tonight at Prayer until after I did my Prayers…

I think NOT hearing about the shooting in Sainte-Foy / Quebec City, until AFTER I had completed my Night Prayer, Salat Al-Isha, was a Protection, a Mercy upon me by The Almighty.

Had I learned of the murders, alone, well, I just don’t know how I would handle it.

Last Ramadan, I prayed exactly where they were praying, inside the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec.

For Isha on Sunday Nights, I have been making an effort to attend Ajyal Islamic Centre in Downtown Vancouver. After Isha Prayer, Dr. Omar Alani has been teaching Parables of The Hadith.

I have been recording them…

AFTER the lesson concluded, it was only then did I first hear about Quebec City. We all talked about what we know so far together.

Having Dr. Alani there to share Islamic Perspectives and reassure us during sadness and shock… well, it helped.

More later… InshAllah.

Also a Note to Self:
For whatever reason, I find having difficulty to recite the verse from The Qur’an that Muslims say upon hearing news of someone’s death…:

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un ( Arabic: إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ‎‎ )

“Is a part of a verse from the Qur’an which translates to “We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”

The phrase is recited by Muslims when a person experiences a tragedy in life, especially upon hearing news that a person has died.”
