Night 9 – VIDEO – Taraweeh – Duncan Musallah – 6254 Ambleside Place – Duncan, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِىُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ وَفِى كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ

“A strong believer is better and Allah loves him more than a weak believer”

My last minute possibility of travelling to Duncan from Vancouver to break fast and pray Maghrib, Isha and Taraweeh didn’t work out.

Subhallah, the Imam leading this small Muslim Community on Vancouver Island, Shaikh Zoheir Tahar (@ZoheirTahar), is Youtubing each night’s Taraweeh Prayers.

In lieu of a proper 30 Masjids visit to Duncan this Ramadan, I’m posting the above video of Night 9 Taraweeh Prayers inside Duncan Musallah.

Duncan is a small town of 5,000 on the east side of Vancouver Island. It’s half way between British Columbia’s provincial capital Victoria to the south, and Nanaimo to the north.

Logistics in reaching Duncan demand attention and pre-planning.

You first catch the BC Ferry either from West Vancouver to Nanaimo, or from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal for the hour-plus ferry ride to Victoria. At times, ferry tickets sell out and you must wait for the next trip.

Once on Vancouver island, expect another hour’s worth of busing or driving towards Duncan, lastly you must find the Musallah: 6254 Ambleside Place.

On this Night 9 of Ramadan 2017, Shaikh Zoheir Tahar hosted a friendly Q&A with the worshippers during a short break inbetween Taraweeh Rakats (units) of prayer.

I might no longer feel absolutely necessary to break fast in Duncan now, yet I still intend to Break Fast this Ramadan at the masjid in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, an hour north of Duncan, InshAllah.
