. . . having left Masjid Qurtabah at 10:18 p.m. as the Muezzin was in the middle of performing Adhan Al Isha, the Night Call to Prayer, I have travelled on bike 12 minutes and am arriving in front of Jame Masjid Huzaifah.
As I begin slowing down, the Muezzin here is in the middle perform his Adhan Al Isha. Huzaifah begins praying at 10:30 p.m.
It is as if nothing was lost. I hadn’t skipped a beat.
I lock my bike to the only spot that is ready available, the sign in front of the Masjid.
Immediately, there is sukun.
Peace of mind.
Isha and Taraweeh prayers will be free of any thoughts or distractions. They were left back at the other masjid. Though it’s only been minutes, it feels like a different day stepping foot into Masjid Huzaifah to pray.
Masjid Huzaifah’s minaret is beautiful and it is in the corner away from the main street. It’s atop the corner facing the parking lot.
I am here to pray. Not to blog. That was earlier.
It feels like a night off.
Two things though I still want to share about Masjid Huzaifah.
At the paper towel dispenser in the wudu, ablution, area a sign is posted that said something like each roll of paper towel cost $6.00 and ask the person about to take the paper, who’s paying for it? Masjid Management? Nope. YOU are. So it’s your money.
Hmm… Made me stop and reflect for a moment. Hadn’t seen a sign like that during 30 Masjids anywhere.
Second, after eight rakats, there was NO exodus. Almost all the lines remained intact. People stayed for the full 20 rakats.
That also was something I hadn’t seen anywhere else.
I need to return to Masjid Huzaifah.
As for Chico Mouse and A Girl Named Leroy, my travelling pocketgnomes, they were just happy to be here right now. Me too.
